Would You Be My Broker?

Bull Benefits was launched by Dr. Joe Jenkins and Justin Thomas of dooable health when they decided to say “yes” to a client request.

After working together for several years at dooable health, one of their health coaching clients made a unique ask: “would you be willing to be our new health broker?” They jumped into a new industry (once again) to disrupt the status quo of employee benefit consulting to help family-owned and member-owned businesses attract and retain great talent with strategies once only reserved for large enterprises.

This required a new company to be formed, licenses to be attained, partnerships to be created and strategies to be vetted and tested. After a couple of years working with forward-thinking small business owners ranging from 5-500 employees, Bull Benefits publically launched beyond its initial early adopters. Today Bull Benefits focuses on self-insured companies, but book an intro call to see if you can benefit from the strategies that other clients have experienced 30% cost savings.

The story behind the name, Bull Benefits.

We are committed to finding solutions and helping our clients grow like in a “Bull Market.” Plus, we have some fun connections to our namesake.

  • Justin and his wife were cattle farmers (for a brief and amazing time), managing a herd of 50 cows, including a bull!

  • The team is based around Durham, NC, nicknamed “The Bull City”

  • Derrick was a professional baseball player, including a stint playing for the Royals AA affiliate, the Wichita “Wranglers”

  • Dr. Joe likes to say, “let’s take the bull out of expensive, ineffective benefits,” so that always brings a smile

  • Justin’s YGuides nickname is “Running Bull”

With all of these connections, the name just stuck!
